ABOUT US
Movement for Human Development (MHD) is a registered Charity established in 1997 with the help of family friends who wanted to contribute their Zakat (Islamic Mandatory Charity) for collective well being and uplift of destitute class of our society. The MHD established literacy centers in poor localities around Urban districts. The MHD is running a well supplied Medical Healthcare Unit with the help of residents of Izmir Housing Society. The MHD is promoting literacy in far flung villages of Punjab through Mobile Literacy Units.
The MHD has been instrumental in helping young unemployed persons to get professional training through Vocational Training Institutes of Punjab and through private sector training facilities such as DESCON Engineering and hence providing employment opportunities to the unemployed.
In 2009, the MHD took a bold stop of establishing a Multi-media Training Institute in Gulberg in the premises donated by Mrs. Azra Manzoor wife of Mr. Manzoor Ahmed, the founder Secretary of MHD. The Multimedia Training Institute is providing training FREE OF COST to young educated boys and girls from lower middle class of the society. The MHD even pays for the bus fare of the trainees so as they are regular in attending classes. The areas of training in Multimedia are Video Making, Computer Editing, Video Titling, Coral Draw, Photoshop, Graphics, Designing, MS Office, and In-Page. Still photography for bridal, portraits, products and groups. All the instructions are volunteers from National College of Arts or practicing video producers, editors, commentators, and Designers. Enormous growth of visual media in Pakistan is a great source of employment for our trainees.
The MHD undertakes professional tasks of making commercials and documentaries to provide on-the-job training for MHD students. The Multimedia Studio of the MHD does not work for profit, rather, it works to create high class professionals in all aspects of video making and multimedia. Recently, the MHD has sought assistance form Lahore's elite school, Academia De Averroes (www.academiadeaverroes.com) to interact with children of the MHD so as MHD children also think and act like educated children regarding social responsibilities, personal hygiene and environment. MHD children's self confidence is boosted through free association with the children of regular schools.
